Beavertails

We enjoyed our two week hiatus in Canada.  We visited family, kept a quiet schedule and took some time to visit the local sights.  And we even got to sample some beavertails in Ottawa.  What you say?  Doesn't sound very appetizing!  Isn't it illegal to consume Canada's national symbol?  Actually they were quite sweet.

Beavertails are actually a pastry sold by a company in Ottawa called Hooker's.  Canadians like to enjoy them in the winter while they skate along the Rideau Canal (it is a 6 kilometer ice rink).  You can get them with cinnamon and sugar or more fancy with lemon, chocolate or icing.  But, yes, they are shaped like a beavertail.

Lots of time to relax but this has been a reality of my vacation too.  Driving - 1900 km in Canada all together.

Lots of time for reading too.  Heather is reading Elijah's current favorite, borrowed from a trip to the library.  It's called I Stink and is about a garbage truck.

Finally a few pics from our adventure to the Museum of Civilization and their Children's Museum.  It was all fun, including vacating the building because of a fire alarm.  The tulips were out too!
