Our Little Troopers

Our family just returned from a road trip through the southeast US.  We all enjoyed meeting new folks, talking about God's work in Haiti and seeing parts of the country we had not seen before.  On the way we drove over 2400 miles and spent 43 hours on the road.  Heather and I are grateful that each of our kids is a real trooper.

We did enjoy some beautiful fall weather as well as the changing of the leaves.  In Haiti and Florida you don't get the beauty of fall so for the kids it was a real treat.  Two mornings in Charlotte, NC the temperatures dropped to the high 20s.  The suitcases included sweater and jackets so the kids could play outside and see their breath.

Forty-three hours in a car seat is a lot of time on your bottom.  Esther especially did really well.  She doesn't have the advantage of being able to read or play games on the iPod.  But she does enjoy watching the scenery go by and listening to music - she is old enough to face forward finally.  On the road we have tried to have along some books on tape.  This time it was Adventures in Odyssey.  During the trip we listened to all 10 discs of the audio theatre show.  We are thankful that our children travel well and are real troopers.

Not only did we travel but we drove to many churches to talk about Haiti.  Nearly every evening was spent presenting the work on Haiti.  Nine days away from home with nine churches visited.  We are so thankful for the opportunity to meet the people who pray for us and work in Haiti.  It is amazing that in nearly every church we know someone or people who are close friends of those we know.  The fellowship is always sweet.

Finally, a short video of our stay at the home of the Batstones who are members of the OPC church in Hickory, NC.  We had some time the morning following our presentation to enjoy their property out in the country.  With snow on the ground the kids could have sledded down the hill but it was not that cold.  So instead they rolled down the hill.  Emma said that for the rest of the day she felt like she was till rolling!
