"And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God." (Revelation 21:3) God with us! We are grateful that in His perfect timing our Lord sent his Son into the world. And even as we reflect on the coming of Jesus the first time to bring salvation to his people, we are also reminded of his coming again in glory. What a wonder that God dwells with us.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from sunny Florida. This is the first Christmas in four years we have not been in Haiti. And while we do miss it we are enjoying the fellowship with friends here in Florida. The consolation for not having snow is the temperatures that will hit 80 degrees today! Though we are far from family we have enjoyed a special time of celebration with our kids in the quiet of our home here in Ellenton.
It is easy to get caught up in all the trimmings of Christmas - gifts, running around, food. Not that we don't enjoy those things. Something we discovered is that once dark descends on our Florida street it is hard to tell there is no snow. Our street is well lit with Christmas lights so we go for a walk and enjoy our neighbors creativity in shorts and flip flops. We went for a lovely walk on Christmas Eve after eating a delicious turkey dinner Heather had prepared.
And now it is Christmas Day. After worship this morning we will come home to some more gifts for the kids. We will spend some time singing Christmas carols with guitar accompaniment. Hopefully we will be able to connect for chats with family back in Canada. We are so thankful for your continued prayers for our family. And your wonderful generosity to us. May you know the joy of the peace that God brings to His world through the sending of his Son Jesus. This incarnation is what we truly celebrate at Christmastime.
