The Guest House Project

We are thankful to be finally moving towards completion of the guest house on Lagonav.  The project has been ongoing for almost 3 years.  It was begun during the time when Matt Baugh was the OPC missionary here in Haiti.  Following his death in 2006 the project was on hold.

Now that God has called us to the field of Lagonav, Haiti, we want to complete the guest house.  There is a real need for housing we can use on the island because staying at other guest houses in Ansagale is very expensive.  The guest when finished will be our base of operations on the island for work among the churches there.  Maybe you will get a chance to stay their when you come and visit us in Haiti : )

Here is the house as it stands today.  Putting a roof on is the necessary next step.  Lord willing, the Haitian contractor will begin the work January 21.

 

Here is the porch out front of the house.  It faces west toward the hills of Lagonav.

And here is a view of the back of the house, facing the water and mainland of Haiti.  The large cistern is in the foreground the windows are to the guest bedrooms located along the back.  After the roof is on the windows and doors will go in.

 

Here are some folks you should know who are important to the work on Lagonav - the family of the late OPC missionary to Haiti Matthew Baugh.  From right to left are Ben Baugh (brother of Matt), Andrew Baugh (son of Matt), Barbara Freeman (Matt's mother) and Rob Baugh (Matt's older brother).  They traveled to the island in May of 2007 and will be with us again later this month to check out schools at the churches on Lagonav.

Please continue to pray for the project.  Here are some specific prayer requests:

1. Pray for safety of all the workers who will be putting the cement roof on starting next week.
2. Pray for the details of materials shipments from Port-au-Prince to Lagonav.
3. Pray that the work would be done well and in a timely manner.
4. Pray for the teams from the US who will arrive once the work is finished to complete windows, doors, inside work.
5. Pray for me as I travel back and forth to the island to help supervise the work.
