Hip-hop President?

In Haiti it is the year of the earthquake but it is also an important election year.  Haiti is due to elect a new president before the term of President Preval expires early in 2011.  And Haiti politics is nothing if not interesting.  Keep praying for the country at this time.

How about a hip-hop artist as president?  Over the past few days Wyclef Jean (formerly of the Fugees) announced he would run.  Wyclef Jean is well respected in Haiti for his humanitarian work and is always on scene when disaster strikes.  Another Haitian musician has also announced he will run.  Michel “Sweet Micky” is a well known musician in Haiti.

And before you say, they must be crazy, what about an actor as president?  Remember Ronald Reagan?  Seems that turned out pretty well.  You can read more on the election news from Haiti here and here.
