Our Vacation Bible School (VBS) programs are a big part of what we do with the children at the Haitian churches. If you follow the blog you will know we have done 2-day VBS programs at all the churches on Lagonav. In the future we also hope to do the same at the church in Port-au-Prince. It is an ongoing part of building the church and training those who might one day lead the church.
This week our kids are getting to participate in the VBS program at Providence OPC in Bradenton, FL. This is their home church so they are enjoying learning and playing with their friends. Amazingly the program is not much different than what we do in Haiti. There is lots of singing. The children are memorizing Bible verses. There are also games and plenty of snacks to keep hungry tummies filled. Spending time and loving the kids crosses cultures.
These children are the next generation of the church of Christ. It is exciting to see that both the covenant kids and other friends outside the church can learn the truths of the Scriptures in this way. Our prayer for them, and for our little Haitian friends, is that they might learn of the love of Jesus and be enabled to love their neighbor.
