Pray for Haiti 2011.4

"Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy! He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him." (Psalm 126:4-6)

Dear Friends,

We are thankful for your prayers as we continue our furlough in the United States and Canada.  Our travels so far have taken us to southern California, Alaska, Oregon, Washington and southern Florida.  We are thankful for the opportunity to share the mission in Haiti with folks at many churches.

Following a missions conference this weekend in Orlando we head to Canada to visit our families.  They will all meet Esther for the first time! We will spend two weeks traveling around Ontario before about 10 days of church visits.  Then home again for a short stay.

Here are some ways you can continue to pray for us and the work in Haiti:

• Sadly we heard today that our yard maintenance worker, Wilson, died.  Someone from the neighborhood found his body out in the yard.  Pray for his family as they grieve this loss and for us as we get someone else in place to watch the home in Kaliko.
• Continue to ask God for traveling mercies as we vacation in Canada and then visit churches in the Philadelphia and Washington, DC areas this month.
• Ask for God to pour his Spirit on the people of Haiti as they continue to suffer through troubling times.  The stability in Haiti seems worse than a few months ago.  Election promises are not bearing fruit and people are frustrated.  Lack of work and stable homes is a constant source of discontent. A new prime minister has yet to be appointed by the President and ratified by the government so no one is getting paid.
• Pray for Octavius Delfils as he continues to shepherd the congregation of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Delmas in Port-au-Prince.  Pray that the saints would be built up in their faith and desire to serve their Savior even more.
• Keep the churches of Lagonav and their leaders, especially Pastor Lexene Leveille, in your prayers.  Associate General Secretary for the Committee on Foreign Missions just returned from a trip to hold a training seminar and visit the churches.
• Ask the Lord to give Heather strength as she homeschools the children and that Ethan, Emma Grace and Elijah would desire to learn. Pray for Esther as she is struggling with teeth pain.
• We praise God for good health and strength during our busy furlough schedule.
