Team Haiti May 2012: Family Anniversaries

While the short-term teams that join us are hard at work, our family is also busy keeping the teams running.  We usually show lots of shots of the teams but do not often show the Hopp family working alongside them during short-term trips.  So we thought we would take this opportunity to show some of the ways Heather, Ben and the kids participate in the ministry here on Lagonav.

We all get a chance to see a bit of the countryside.  Here Ethan stand beside a very sizable pile of wood about to made into charcoal.  If the people are not growing crops they are growing charcoal trees.

Listening intently to the lesson based on the Children's Catechism Ethan is a good example for the children at the Doglace church.

Heather doesn't always get to come along, but when she does she gets right down to helping the kids.  They love to color with crayons and create their own take-home kites.

Our whole family, big and small, likes to participate in the games with the kids.  Heather even has cuts and scrapes from this week to prove it.  The parachute is a little tamer than our Haitian version of "duck, duck, goose."

And a highlight of our current trip was celebrating our 18th anniversary on Lagonav.  We are very thankful that our family gets to be together so much as we do God's work here in Haiti.

Not only do the teams do the VBS programs, they also help with various tasks around the guest house.  Clearing the yard of weeds and miscellaneous trash was today's task.  The boys love to help.

Emma helped by working with the girls sweeping off the roof.  We all got to enjoy the sunset tonight from the roof that showcases the mountains, the ocean and the beautiful skies of Haiti.
