It has been a quiet Christmas here in Haiti. Just the five of us. But we have enjoyed it nevertheless. This year we were blessed with many packages sent down with presents for the kids. In a land where many experience great want we are satisfied beyond measure.
You can see the anticipation in the kids' eyes. They are ready for their presents. We also enjoyed singing and reflecting on the Christmas accounts from Matthew and Luke. We are really grateful for the spiritual perceptiveness of our kids and their growing body of biblical knowledge.
Lots of presents including the snap-together fire truck for Elijah (that Papa is putting together of course!) and the magnifying glass for home schooling investigations.
An amazing thing we never anticipated we would be able to do in Haiti was Skype with the webcam. Here is Oma (Ben's Mom) from snowy Ottawa, Ontario. The connection was a little off and on, likely because of all the holiday traffic. Everyone wants to say hi to family on Christmas. Again, we are blessed.
As we mentioned we do enjoying singing together. Here we are singing some Christmas carols with Papa's rudimentary accompaniment on the piano. They kids sang with great joy anyways!
Our team arrived from Orlando today. Tomorrow (Saturday) we are off to Lagonav with the team for 4 days of Vacation Bible School programs at the Lagonav churches of Bwa Pen and Nan Kafe. I will try to give some updates as I can connect to the Internet, but can't make any promises. See you back on the mainland next Friday.
