My last trip before vacation and the new baby. When you think of Chicago you might think of deep-dish pizza, the mob or the Cubs. I am here for the General Assembly of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. Minister and elders from all over the church in the US and Canada gather once per year to discuss the overall business of the church. It is a great time to meet guys I have not seen in a while.
It may all seem dull but it is important. Some of the work of the church can only be done when we band together our finances and efforts - things such as Foreign Missions. The men talk about needs for various fields, how we can do things better and deal with the sticky matters of oversight. I will have an opportunity to speak to the Assembly on behalf of the Committee on Foreign Missions. It will be good to talk about Haiti and what God is doing.
Lots of old friends to see here too. The sessions of GA go until around 9PM every night. But it still gives a little time to go out and see the town. Hoping to enjoy some Chicago-style deep-dish pizza downtown one of these nights. The weekend will also include visits to a couple OPC churches to present the work in Haiti.
