Thank you everyone for praying. Our family is back together again after a long day of traveling for Ben and Thai on Thursday. We pulled into our driveway just after 11PM. But we made it and everyone is very thankful. Amazingly it is hotter here in Florida than it has been in Haiti. Today we are in the low 90’s while in Haiti it is still raining.
The best part of the return to Florida on the Missionary Flights International aircraft out of Port-au-Prince direct to Fort Pierce. Thai and I were the only passengers so I occupied the jump seat in the cockpit for the ride home. It was a great view and fun to be in the cockpit again. This is something you can't do inflight on the airlines anymore. I remember being able to see the flight deck and talk with the pilots during the flight as a kid. Kind of takes you back.
The Douglas DC-3, registered N300MF, was built in 1943. It saw service mainly in Europe before being brought to the United States around 1980. It is a venerable old airplane with loud radial engines. Lots of new equipment like GPS but no autopilot here. This is a plane the pilot flies, from takeoff to touchdown.
Since we were only flying at 10,000 feet for most of the 4 plus hour trip, you get some great views. There was no thunderstorm activity along our route so it was relatively smooth. We did have to make some course deviations to go around buildup. Our arrival in Fort Pierce was slightly ahead of schedule and we were back on American soil. Thanks again for praying. We are happy to be reunited and maybe visiting a church near you soon!

OK, so this is a very belated comment. Life is busy. Thanks to God for a safe trip. And the extra pleasure of a cockpit view! I too, remember seeing inside the cockpit of a plane. For me when when my grandfather took me aboard before his flight.
