Flying and Fishing

The most recent trip has taken Ben to the last frontier of Alaska.  The OPC has a church in Wasilla, about 45 minutes outside of Anchorage where Ben has been for a few days.  Besides preaching at Sunday services and presenting the work in Haiti there has also been some time to enjoy the outdoors of Alaska.

One thing Ben was able to experience on his arrival into Anchorage was a 1 1/2 hour flight in a Harvard trainer.  An elder from the Wasilla church is part of the Commemorative Air Force that flies old warbirds.  This particular aircraft is the Canadian built version of the T-6 trainer used to train many pilots in World War 2 and after.  It was a delightful flight of sightseeing and some aerobatics.  First time doing a loop which was fun.

The weather did not cooperate for a trip out on Prince William Sound to fish but plan B worked out great.  Willow Creek was running with salmon.  Ben and Pastor Scott from the Wasilla church were able to catch 2 Pink salmon and two Chum Salmon.  Plus we hooked and had to release several other fish.  Beautiful weather for all these activities.  Family camp outside Portland, Oregon is the next stop on this trip!
