From Haiti to Florida

It has been a while since our last post.  The whole family enjoyed our time in southern California and are now back in Florida.  Ben makes some trips around the country visiting churches in August.  In September we will have a chance to be reunited with family in Canada ahead of meetings with the Committee on Foreign Missions on Philadelphia.

Haiti is never far from our thoughts.  Hurricane season is now in full swing and it looks like Haiti will get their first hit tomorrow.  Emily is bearing down on Hispaniola but will remain a tropical storm.  We continue to feel the connection with the people of Haiti undergoing these trials as Florida is often in the bullseye too.  We wait and we pray.

Here in Florida we had our own little flooding episode on Sunday.  We are now used to the daily summer thunderstorms.  But they don't usually bring as much rain as the storm this past Sunday.  We had just returned home from church when the sprinkles started.  We dodged the rain and made our way inside. The thunder and lightning plus torrential rain continued for about 30 minutes.  We lost power and looking outside our fron door saw the street was a river.  Thankfully the storm drain is further down the street and our property is relatively high up.  Some of the cars had water up to the tires.  And within an hour the water was all gone!

We continue to be thankful for your prayers.  Esther turned 1 and is growing well.  Ethan also celebrated a birthday in July and is now 10!  Thanks for praying for Ethan who had a minor hernia repair operation and is healing well.  Pray for rest, for a continued zeal for the ministry in Haiti and the ability to communicate the work of Christ to the churches in the United States and Canada.
