The work of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC) in Haiti could not have happened without your faithful giving. During our latest training seminar on Lagonav we took our normal photo of the group. But we also took another important photo - a milestone in the work and a reminder of God's faithfulness to his church. Pastor Douglas who traveled to Haiti in January 2003 as a representative of the Committee on Foreign Missions asked to pose with the men from Lagonav who were at that first training seminar.
The group of men training is bigger now. Some have left and of course, many have been added. The work of training elders for the churches could not go on without your faithfulness in prayer and giving over the years. For several years the churches in the United States sent men to conduct periodic training. This happened because the Committee on Foreign Missions sensed God calling the church to work in Haiti and you made the financial resources available. The Matthew Baugh family could never have been called as the first full-time missionaries of the OPC to Haiti without your support. And our family would not be in our sixth year of ministry in Haiti if you did not give sacrificially out of the abundance God has given you.
God is faithful. On another side of the ministry, the third and final Widow's House is in the final stages of construction. The project was on hold as we waited for the other two houses to be occupied. As you can see from the picture the roof of the Gran Lagon Widow's House is going on and much of the cement plastering has been finished. Lord willing, the house will be finished in the next month and ready for the widows to occupy. Though that day been a long time in coming, once again it has come to fruition through the generous giving to diaconal needs here in Haiti.
