Our Team Arrives

The first official team of people has arrived in Haiti to help us with the work. Four pastors from the Orthodox Presbyterian Church in the United States arrived Saturday on the last flight from Miami. Also joining them was one of their wives, a great encouragement to Heather.

The American Airlines plane arrived a little late as the sun began to fade in Port-au-Prince. After navigating immigration, customs and the phalanx of men wanting to carry bags (for a fee), we got everything loaded in the truck. A quick stop for drinks and we were off to Kaliko. Darkness was complete about halfway home, but by God's grace we didn't miss any speed-bumps.

Then 15 minutes from home the skies opened up. It really poured and my window would not close on the drivers side. On top of that the sunroof leaked on the passenger side. We were very wet but thankful to have arrived safe and sound.

We spent the Lord's Day worshipping with the saints in Messaille. Pastor Bill preached from Job 1 on dealing with affliction. We came home for a light lunch and spent the afternoon relaxing on the beach and in the water. What a beautiful setting in which to spend a restful Sabbath.

 

Continue to pray for our team and the men coming from Lagonav for the training conference. The conference runs all week, examining the Scriptures through the lens of the first 28 questions of the Westminster Shorter Catechism. Pray that the teaching would be fruitful, that the details would all come together, and that God would build fruitful relationships between the churches.  We are thankful to have Pastor Douglas, Pastor Eric, Pastor Bill, his wife Hazel and Pastor David (pictured reading to our kids).
