Morne Fort Presbyterian Church of Saint Marc

God continues to build his church. And as Jesus remind his disciples and us in Matthew 16, "the gates of hell will not prevail against it." This is the story of the Presbyterian church located in the Morne Fort area of Saint Marc, a town about 22 miles up the coast from our home in Kaliko.

This was church was begun a number of years ago through the efforts of Charles Amicy, a missionary with Mission to the World (PCA). Charles grew up in Haiti and was educated at Greenville Seminary in South Carolina. You will have read about Charles and his ministry in other articles of our blog. Even as the church got started, Satan tried his worst to kill the fledgling congregation and its witness. After some internal strife involving one of the pastors the church had to be closed down and demolished. But God continued his work through the other congregation in the city of Saint Marc. In God's perfect time he called a pastor and resurrected the church in Morne Fort. Today we witnessed the installation of Pastor Roland as pastor of this church. What a blessed event.

 

I was privileged to preach the message on Luke 14:7-11. Through a parable on the wedding feast Jesus calls us to servanthood. Instead of always desiring the place of honor we are called to humble ourselves in order that we might exalted. After the service we ate with the brothers and sisters from all the churches working with Mission Presbyterienne d'Haiti (MPH) on the mainland. There were about 150 in attendance.

 

Continue to lift up your brothers and sisters in Haiti up in prayer. We are excited about the relationship being built with MPH and the churches of Lagonav. Pray that God would be glorified as people see the unity of the church in the one true faith. We finished our day with a dip in the warm ocean waters and a beautiful setting over Lagonav. God is good!
