Getting there is half the fun

Or at least so says the advertisement on the ferry to Lagonav. The Vierge Caribbean is one of two ferries that now run between the mainland the Ansagale. It was formerly registered somewhere in the state of New York, and the advertisements from the year 1998 are still posted around the ship.

One of those advertisements mention that "getting there is half the fun." That was certainly true on our weekend trip over to the island of Lagonav. Pastor Douglas, Pastor David and I were to travel over Saturday, visit churches and then return Monday morning. But it seemed Satan was working overtime to prevent the preaching of the gospel going forward.

Douglas was sick on Saturday so we delayed our trip until Sunday morning. We arrived at the dock at 6:40AM to get the fly boat. The only flyboat at the wharf was broken down. They were working on getting the outboards working so we waited. 8AM, 9AM, still no joy. Then the ferry arrived and we eventually decided we were going to miss morning worship at Doglace and would just take the ferry. Another flyboat arrived. The first flyboat made off for Lagonav but quickly returned with a dead engine.

At around 10:30AM the ferry left for Lagonav. It was a little choppy so we were thankful for our seats in the cabin. About half way across we passed the second flyboat. They were stopped and came alongside to transfer passengers onto the ferry. Talk about hairy! We did finally arrive.

We were thankful to the Lord for the opportunity to worship at Gran Lagon in the afternoon. Pastor David preached, we spent a brief time fellowshipping and then made our way back to Fifi's guesthouse in Ansagale.

 

Our first team is now home or on their way home. We are very thankful for the great fellowship and the way they ministered to our whole missionary family, kids included! Bondye bon. God is good.
