I thought it would be helpful to share with you a recent e-mail from Charles Amicy, a missionary with the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) who works here in Haiti. Charles is a good friend and we are partnering with him in establishing a reformed and presbyterian church here in Haiti. The picture shows Charles on the right with Octavius and Charles' brother Leon.
Do be in prayer for a meeting on Monday where Charles, Octavius Delfils (working with Charles also) and Esaie Etienne (PCA missionary in Gonaives) will meet together. We are working on plans for establishing a regional church (presbytery) in the upcoming months. This is a very encouraging development, but much wisdom and prayer is needed.
Here is the text of Charles' recent prayer request:
Dear Brothers and sisters in Christ,
Just a note to continue to express our gratitude to you for partnering with us in the Gospel ministry in Haiti. Your prayers and supports contribute in great deal to sustain us in that task of preaching the reformed Faith to the Haitian people. We praise the Lord for His continuing blessings up on the ministry and we are very grateful for all the fruits. However, even with a lot of progress, ministering in Haiti these days is quit challenging because of the economic situation. Most families continue to struggle to get at least one meal a day. We continue to express our gratitude to some of our partners who helped with feeding our church families. Yesterday I was in St Marc where they received some heavy rains last week. It was very sad to observe the situation of some of our church families. Because of the flood they lost all their belongings and have no way to replace them.
Please pray with us for the families at both churches in St Marc touched by the flood and pray with us and for us while we are ministering to them.
