The kids are all excited and so are we! Ben's sister Leah has come to Haiti to visit us for a couple of weeks. We have been talking for a while about her coming down and this February the time was right. She arrived Tuesday on the Air Canada flight from Montreal.
It has been almost a year since we saw her on our last vacation back to Canada. We are happy she can come down and she how we live here in Haiti. The kids are glad to have someone read to them, play with them and just spend the time. Our kids love being read to, so Auntie Leah gets lots of chances at bedtime, in the car and on the couch during the day.
Leah brought some presents for the kids. We all enjoy Tim Horton's coffee, creamed honey and chocolate bars we can only get in Canada (like Aero, Crunchie, Coffee Crisp). Leah also brought an aquarium as her carry-on. The kids were especially excited about this. Since we live right near the ocean it will be our salt water aquarium. Today we will be down at the beach collecting gravel, rocks and water. After everything is set up we will see if we can catch some tropical fish.
Leah has a background in community health and spent a year in Tanzania, East Africa. She has worked for Africa Inland Mission (AIM) and is seeking the Lord's will for her future. She really wants to go back to Africa. For the time being she will visit the island of Lagonav with me and a team next week. We will have a doctor along with a number of nurses along to conduct clinics at Gran Lagon and Doglas, two of the churches we work with. Do pray for the whole operation. Right now the challenge is the wind and waves on the water. It is the season, and we are praying the boats will be running for the days we plan to travel. It is always wait and see - the Lord knows what is best.
