Hockey Night in Haiti

200px-HNIC_Logo_1998 It was Hockey Night in Haiti today - I think you have to be Canadian to get the allusion.  We spent part of the afternoon down at the beach at Kaliko.  Our friends Barry and Beth, who work with the Wesleyan mission on Lagonav, are at our place for a few days relaxation.  The days are warm as always.  It is nice to be refreshed with a quick dip in the ocean.

The kids brought the oars from our little inflatable boat.  They decided it would be fun to hit the ball around on the beach.  And soon we were playing sand hockey with nets, checks and goals.  It was good exercise and a lot of fun.  There was some shade so we didn't even sweat too much.  We even had a outdoor shower afterwards - no locker room though.

And in other news, they are redoing our pool.  Well, OK, it's not really our pool.  But our kids do spend more time in the Kaliko Beach Club pool than anyone else.  For the last 3 weeks it has stood empty while they fix it up.  Lots of cement work to do, replacing of filters and finally in the next week painting.  It should be ready to go again by Easter.  At least that is what the resort manager says.  We will see! (and enjoy it when the work is completed)
