Back to work

IMG_9076 We are back home in Haiti and back to work.  We are grateful to God for safe flight.  We had a bit of an adventure getting our truck as the friend who was to pick us up said it would not start.  In God’s providence someone else we knew was nearby and came to the airport to get us.  The truck did end up starting and after a sweet reunion with our dog Thai we headed home to Kaliko.

Tuesday saw the arrival of a small team from Reading, PA.  These folks have been with us before and graciously answered the call to come work on the truck and do some jobs around the house at Kaliko.

IMG_9090 Our 1994 Toyota Land Cruiser is a great vehicle but it does take a lot of abuse on the roads of Haiti.  So we want to keep it in top shape as it is the only one we have.  As the pictures show there was lots of work to do under the truck.  Thus the legs!  In the second picture is looks like Elijah is shaking his head over their diagnosis.  Everything worked out except that a couple of the parts we brought back from the States must be for another model of the 1994 Land Cruiser.

The team has also been busy painting, making shelves for the cupboards and beginning the big job of making an island from the existing kitchen cupboards.  Heather has been very happy these days and we are thankful for everyone’s hard work despite the summer heat.  We have fed them well as the Chicken Creole shows.

IMG_9095 Continue to pray for the team as they work and then head home Monday.  We also have lots of prep to do before Team Haiti 2009.1 arrives from California.  We are looking forward to a fun and busy team season.
