We don’t often get serious waves here on the coast near our home. The area is sheltered by the island of Lagonav and the southern peninsula of Haiti. The last few days has been different. We could hear the crashing waves over the past few days. The wind has been a little more consistent than usual but not overly strong. Today we went down to check it out.
Late this afternoon the kids donned their bathing suits to go down to Kaliko Beach for a swim. And they got the job of a big, crashing surf breaking over the beach. The waves were coming in from the northwest and had made a mess of the beach. The rocks had been moved around, much of the sand dispersed and even some recently planted palm trees were barely holding on. And the kids had fun. See the pictures below.
