The team just finished their second day at Bwa Pen. The teaching, crafts, singing and games were all well received. Please continue to pray that the kids would hide God’s Word in their hearts and that the Spirit would use it for his glory. Today was also an exciting day as the Kawasaki Mule passed its 1000 mile mark.
The Mule is a 4-seat, 4-wheel vehicle seemingly special made for Lagonav. It has been a wonderful blessing to the ministry here. It has traveled many miles on the rough roads of Lagonav and has carried us safely along each mile. It is holding up well and outside of regular oil and air filter changes is maintenance free. Everyone gets a break from riding in the back of our hired pickups to enjoy slightly less jolting ride.
The dry season means the mud is gone but it has been replaced by dust on the roads. Here we call it Haitian fog. It not only coats the Mule but our clothes, sunglasses and even gets in our hair. The ride is fun though as we get to view the beautiful scenery and say hello to people along the way. Some of the roads are smooth, mainly along the coast where the rains have created a kind of hard baked salt flat.
But most of the roads are rough. We may not be roughing it at the guest house – we have running water, electricity and hot food after all. But most of the 15 miles to Bwa Pen is rough. We bounce up and down, climb over rocky surfaces and then descend steep slopes. It is not for the faint of heart or back.
