It is turning out to be another whirlwind month but it has also very exciting. We said goodbye to a team on Saturday, welcomed 12 folks into membership at the Port-au-Prince church plant on Sunday and will pickup an OPC pastor and his wife on Wednesday as we prepare for a teaching seminar for the Lagonav church leaders. We are very thankful that the Lord continues to sustain us.
The recent team spent a week on the island of Lagonav conducting Vacation Bible School (VBS) programs at the churches in Lapye and Nan Mango. We had between 60-90 kids in attendance each day. They learned the first six questions of the Children's Catechism, sang songs, did some crafts and spent time interacting with the team. We have now conducted VBS programs at each of the seven Lagonav churches. Please pray for lasting fruit in the lives of these little ones.
Sunday was another very exciting and encouraging day. You might say what took place at the Port-au-Prince church plant was what we have been working towards through our first four years in Haiti. Following membership interviews a couple weeks ago, twelve Haitian believers made profession of faith and were welcomed into membership at the Reformed Presybterian Church of Delmas. We praise God for his faithfulness. Please pray for these members along with several others who will be baptized upon profession of faith in a couple weeks.
One of the men who became a member on Sunday was Pastor Octavius Delfils' father. This dear saint has served the Lord for many years. It was encouraging to hear him give testimony of his trust in Jesus even though his body is frail. Pray for his health and his continued witness to his family and church.
Pastor Oharek and his wife, Lisa, from Orlando, will join us on Wednesday. Lord willing, Pastor Oharek and I will continue the training of church leaders on Lagonav later this week. We are continuing our Old Testament survey with a journey through Exodus and instruction on the law of God. It is always exciting to bring the brothers together and see their desire to learn. Pray that they would grow both in grace and knowledge of their Savior. Pray for safe travels by airplane, truck and boat over this coming week.
Our immediate family continues to do well. Pray for ongoing strength. Esther is growing well and is now pulling herself up. She is eating solid foods and working on some teeth. Pray for restful sleep for us all. The kids continue to excel at school and are having a great time with the various visitors. Pray for Heather's strength as she juggles all her responsibilities as well.
We are nearing the end of the dry season and everything is just that…DRY. Please pray that rains would come soon. Rains without floods.
Finally, please pray for the final round of Presidential elections which are scheduled for this Sunday (March 20th). It has been a tumultuous time since the first round back at the end of November. Pray that Haitians would be free to vote in safety. Pray that the results would be fair and just and returned in a timely way. Pray that a suitable leader would emerge for this troubled country. Pray that the transfer of power would occur soon, too.
Again we thank you for your prayers. They are not in vain as we can see that God is building his church here in Haiti.
