On Friday we had our third team of 2011 arrive. The team has come to Haiti to do Vacation Bible School programs at two churches on Lagonav. The team is being led by folks from Holy Trinity PCA church in Tampa, FL, but the majority of team members have come from all over the United States. It is exciting to have young and older people from Colorado, Delaware, New Jersey, Michigan, Alaska and Florida.
On Saturday we left our Kaliko home for the island of Lagonav. It is always an enjoyable ride particularly because it was incredibly smooth. The skies were clear and the water is a beautiful blue. We even had time to enjoy our lunch on the boat.
The first day at the guest house means opening everything up, sweeping the place out and finding a home for all the items we bring along. But we also have a chance to relax. Here the Hopp kids are watching “Wishbone” with some of the girls from the team.
Sunday is our day for worship and we are preparing to go to the church in Doglas. While Sunday is wash your car day in Haiti, we wanted to get it done before our day of rest. The boys had fun pouring water on the Mule and soaping it down. They know enough of Haiti in the dry season to realize that it will be dusty and dirty again by the time we return to the guest house from church. Oh well!
