Backyard Fishing

From time to time my boys and I spend a little time fishing the ponds of our neighborhood.  We have a big pond in our backyard and we know there are fish - our neighbor caught a 20 pound carp a couple months ago.  My boys are at the age where they are happy to put a line in as long as they get some kind of action.

So the other afternoon we got out our poles and went out back.  As we moved down the lake we spoke with a neighbor who often fishes the same pond.  He said he had been out the night before and had some success just off the end of a small culvert.  Ethan walked over, cast his line and within 30 seconds had a fish on the line.  A fighter too!  Our first catch of the season.

Not only do we get to spend time together, we also get to enjoy the beauty of our Florida home.  There are probably 20 little ponds around our neighborhood so when the fish are not biting in one we move on to another.  We had bites on another pond and another big one got away.  Lots of fun and all for free.
