UPDATE: Roof construction begins

IMG_9163The construction of the guest house roof over on Lagonav has finally started.  Last week Bos Piquant, Bos Nasson and their teams began to put together the support beams across the larger rooms.  The plywood and poles that will support the rebar and cement for the roof are going up as we speak.

Here are a few pictures of the work from a brief trip to the island last week.  Thanks to Bill DeJong of Mission to Haiti Canada for accompanying and giving some good advice on the work.

Here is one of the support beams (pout), formed in with the rebar placed inside.  The cement will be poured in and when dry we will have beam across the room.

Lots of work nailing, cutting and measuring.

The roof over the front porch takes shape.  The piles of sand and gravel are also growing in front of the house.  This will be used for the cement on the day they pour.
