Just a couple weeks ago we finally got a chance to sample some Haitian crab. We were spending the afternoon at the beach with a visiting friend and one of the local guys came by selling crabs. Living near the ocean definitely has its benefits.
The crabs were quite large. We brought them home in a bad still alive. We got the water boiling in our largest pot. It almost wasn't big enough but we managed to fit him in. The claws were huge!
Once he was cooked we had to find some tools to get at the meat. Thankfully we had brought to Haiti a nut cracker. The meat was sweet and very tasty. There was plenty to go around.
Even Ethan, Emma and Elijah tried some. There were very interested in how to get at the crab meat. Messy but fun! We were really proud that all three kids at least tried it, though Elijah and Emma said they wouldn't want it again.
