Pray for Haiti 2009.15

(Since not all of you are on the e-mail prayer update list I thought it would be helpful to post the updates on the blog as well.  If you would like your address included on our semi-regular prayer updates just e-mail me)

Wow, the summer is over and September is upon us.  Just like in your area the students are back to school here in Haiti.  September is also the peak of hurricane season.  With it comes the rain, the winds and the fear.

Here are some things you can continue to pray for:

• Please pray for continued good health.  We realize we are all tired and that tends to make our bodies a target for the various illnesses going around.  We are grateful for God's mercies so far.
  
• Continue to pray for the transfer of the truck into the mission name.  I have spent 2 days in Port just this week plus at least another day.  The process continues to be frustrating so patience is really needed.
  
• Pray for Heather as she homeschools the kids.  The year is going well and we are thankful for the kids motivation to learn.  Pray they would learn all they need to be productive citizens of the kingdom of God.
  
• Lift up a number of families living just north of us in Carries who lost children in recent flooding.  Last Friday we received 2 inches (over 50mm) of rain in one hour.  Part of a hillside gave way and 32 homes were swept away by the mud.  Hurricane wise it has been a quiet year but any heavy rain can be dangerous.
  
• We ask you to pray for upcoming trips to Lagonav as Ben takes various visitors over to see the churches and preach there.  Continue to pray for the leaders of the churches that they would grow in grace and maturity.
  
• Please lift up our missionary friends Randy & Karen Lodder and their daughter Maia.  They had an electrical fire at their house on Saturday night in Port au Prince.  No one was hurt but there was lots of smoke.  They are trying to determine if the house is safe because of the various electrical problems evident there.  Pray for strength, wisdom and patience.
  
• Progress on the road to Port-au-Prince continues and it makes travel time less and the drive easier.  But people are driving faster and there has been an upsurge in accidents.  Pray that drivers, particularly of the buses, would show prudence and think of others.
