Team Variety

Wow, the whirlwind 8-day tour is almost over.  The team from the Presbytery of the South has been really great.  There has been lots to keep busy with and a great variety of tasks were accomplished.  Here are some of the things they did:

 

How do we get rid of the garbage?  The only way is to burn it.  The kids love watching the guys trying to use Haitian matches to light the fire.  It can be a dangerous proposition as the match head fly off on many occasions.  Even a Boy Scout has trouble here.

 

Along with our VBS team there was lots of work going on around the house.  We had four boss masons and two labors working to plaster the last two big rooms in the guest house.  They were able to finish the walls and floors in 4 days.  Here the last section has the color applied.  Looks real nice!

Raun headed up the electrical work plus all kinds of odd jobs that needed to be completed.  Here they cut steel for new front gate locks.  A new toilet was installed, fans put in and the house now has lights for the dark nights in many rooms.

 

The focus for the rest of the team was Vacation Bible School.  We had about 70 kids at Bwa Pen the first two days.  The picture shows the 100 kids who were present at Nan Kafe.  Everyone was excited to learn, do crafts, eat a little and play the games.  The team is tired out from the driving.

 

These are the roads of Lagonav.  Here the second truck follows us up the hill.  It is bumpy and slow but not too hot this time of year.  Someone commented that riding the the trucks on Lagonav roads is like getting spanked 20,000 times!  Ouch, that hurts!

Our final day on Lagonav was Sunday.  We worshipped at Doglas.  It was a delight for everyone to sing and pray with them.  There were about 60 folks from the church plus our team of nearly 20.  Pastor James preached from Mark 1 on the call of the gospel.

Our kids did enjoy their time.  They got to play out in the rain.  They helped the workers at the house.  They played games with the team members.  It was all fun.  Here they smile while sitting on the roof of the guest house.  Always fun to go but also fun to be home.
