The team now on Lagonav has been busy with two different tasks. Let me tell you about all that has been accomplished over the 5 days we spent on the island. We are grateful for great weather, traveling mercies and strength through all the work.
Three of us pastors spent two days training the church leaders on counseling. We were very thankful for the opportunity to pass on the truths of Scripture to these men and to interact their their experiences of the earthquake. You can get an idea of their concerns from some of the prayer requests they pass on to us.
- for the spiritual growth of people in the churches
- for places like Nan Mangot where many people are sick with fevers and far from the hospital
- for numerical growth of the churches
- for better worship places particularly with the rain coming
- for various leaders who have wives who are sick
On Saturday we traveled out to two churches to do some one-on-one counseling with church folks. We had a brief time of singing and prayer with everyone present. Then we spoke with individuals, heard their stories, inquired as to their hope and prayed for them. I was very encouraged, particularly at Gran Lagon, because many could clearly articulate that their only hope in life and death was faith in Jesus Christ. It was a long day but good to see God at work.
The three men who stayed back at the guest house to do construction work have also been busy. The main job was plastering the outside of the guest house. They got a great start on the front. They worked along with two Haitian men each day. Other jobs that were accomplished included installing some screen doors, changing the oil on the Mule and painting. All for God’s glory and the comfort of those who use the guest house.
