“Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.” (Ephesians 4:15-16 ESV)
Today was another exciting day in the life of the Haitian Reformed and Presbyterian church. We were able to recommence worship services at the joint PCA-OPC church plant in Port-au-Prince. And while the OPC team here this past week along with another team associated with Coram Deo International Aid worked on the building, now it is full of people.
Everyone comes with a story. It has been a challenging three months for many since the quake struck on January 12. Everyone lost someone their know. Many have lost homes and belongings. But as I encouraged them in a sermon from 2 Corinthians 6:2, today is the day of God’s favor. In Christ we have everything we need. As the apostle Paul says later in the chapter, he can have nothing, yet possess everything – in Christ.
In the picture at right you can see Pastor Leon leading the singing and Pastor Delfils in the front row. Pray for these men as they lead the church from week to week in the worship of the true and living God. Pray that God would use them to equip the saints for the service God has for them. The church is the people of God and we thank God for each one.
