The Craziness of Haiti

If you look up my username on YouTube (bkhopp) you will see several videos that give some sense of the crazy things you are liable to witness if you visit.  This weekend I again made my way to Lagonav to preach at a couple of our churches.  The wharf at Carries was particularly busy.  People said it was because the wharves in Port-au-Prince are not as accessible to the sailboats and so they come north to load up.

Usually there are just a couple cargo sailboats at the dock.  Today there were 7 all together.  And one of them was bringing a large truck from Lagonav.  Wilson said it was because they do not have really good mechanics on Lagonav and need to bring it to the mainland for repair work.  As usual the process of debarkation was interesting.  The following pictures and videos give some idea.

And the other Friday while coming back to Kaliko after our work day we witnessed this right in front of us.  A large dump truck was bringing some really smelly and gross garbage out to the dump.  But they didn’t make it quite that far.  We called it the “pooping truck.”  Gross!
