The work is done and the team is gone. But they left behind a great example of effort and quality of work. I am very thankful for the flexibility of this team. They came expecting one kind of work and ended up doing a lot of other things. God is good in sending the right people for the right jobs.
The team had expected to so a lot of concrete work including putting in a couple septic tanks. The hole was dug at the church site but rain the next night made it into a swimming pool. They also hoped to put in a septic at the previous worksite at Pastor Leon’s house. Again we had someone dig the hole but it quickly started filling with water. With the ground so saturated and no where for the water to go it was decided to convert it into a cistern. Your dollars put these Haitian guys to work blocking it up. They finished it in one day.
So what did the team accomplish. They did do lots of electrical work. we had a certified electrician who with some help was able to wire up the whole Adoration Christian Centre complex where the Port-au-Prince church plant also meets. We worked to finish off the electrical in the upstairs of Pastor Leon’s house as well. It came “down to the wire” so to speak but we got it done.
After all the work was done Friday we drove downtown for a quick tour of the quake zone. Several of the guys mentioned that is deeply impacted them. They had no idea the destruction was so widespread and devastating. There is some sign of cleanup, but a lot left to do. Where is the heavy equipment?
