We have had a good restful Sabbath day and head back to the mainland Monday. While we didn’t get to go out to the Lagonav sandbar to swim because the water was a little rough, the consolation prize was a water fight in the backyard. Everyone got good and wet plus were cooled down a little. The weather this week has been great, some cloud, some sun with no rain but relatively cool nights. Perfect.
These are the roads that are now behind us. With the dry season now upon us we have had plenty of dust but the view is great. Lots of clear views of the beautiful blue ocean and the mainland of Haiti.
Elijah has always been a bit of a ham. He and Max, one of the interpreters exchanged hats and sunglasses for this picture!
We worshipped Sunday at the Doglace church with Pastor James Lim preaching from Matthew 15. The church is currently under construction as they hope to put the roof on over the next few months. They are already putting the cement beams across the large span.
One of our chauffeurs, Oness, told an amazing story before the worship service this morning testifying to God’s preserving hand. Back in November he went to the mainland to buy two truck tires. He loaded them onto a small sailboat also loaded with plywood, boxes of nails and 18 other people. They said it was overloaded but elected to cross anyways. Half-way out into the channel the boat started taking on water. For two hours the people stood knee deep in water hoping for rescue. Another sailboat came along, took the people off and shortly thereafter the boat and all the belongings plunged to the bottom. Oness was able to save his tires. Sadly a not too uncommon occurrence but God spared lives that day. Praise the Lord!
Yesterday the folks from wish came over. Messaina and Emma became fast friends. The walked through the house with crayons between their toes. They are showing them off here.
