The work teams that we host soon realize that their time in Haiti is not all work. The Sabbath brings a day of rest and worship. One of the blessings of knowing the Wesleyan missionaries on Lagonav is their boat. We not only charter it to take our teams to and from the island, but they graciously invite us along on Sunday afternoon to the sandbar off Lagonav.
Most of the island is surrounded by a reef. And right off the town of Ansagale a sandbar has formed. Some parts of the sandbar is very shallow with the water only coming to your waist. Our guys had a great time enjoying the warm waters. Some snorkeled and were able to see fish, sea anemones and sea urchins. The water is incredibly clear and our time at the sandbar makes for a very refreshing afternoon in the sun.
Once everyone has had enough of the sandbar we take boat a few hundred yards away to deeper water. After anchoring there some of the guys get a chance to dive off the roof of the boat. With some encouragement from the watching fans some of the guys try back flips and other stunts into the deep blue water. Fun to do and fun to watch!
Thank you for your continued prayers for the team from Michigan working at the guest house on Lagonav. I will return to Lagonav after a quick visit to my family on the mainland. The whole team comes back to Kaliko on Wednesday (Feb 9) and flies home on Thursday. The plastering of the outside of the house has been nearly completed. Wow!
