Pray for Haiti 2009.17

In your area it may be the leaves are falling, the sun is setting earlier and the night time temperatures are falling.  Here in Haiti the mosquitoes continue to multiply, the ocean is still warm for swimming and the sun continues hot.  We are encouraged at the work God has called us to here - both generally in the church and through our interaction with individuals.


Here are some items to pray for:
· Wisdom in discerning who we can work with in the training of church leaders and planting churches here in Haiti.
· The Lagonav cuhurch in Lapye is currently in the process of building a widow's house.  This building will be used to house widow's from the church who have no family to care for them.  Pray it will be completed soon.

· Preparations are in progress and seminary classes will be begin at the church in Port-au-Prince later this week.  Pray for the PCA leaders and myself as we sort out classes to be taught and the various schedules.  We are excited about this development and pray God will use it to train future leaders in the Haitian Presbyterian and Reformed church.
· Our family gives thanks that we now own a new vehicle.  We are grateful for the generosity of various donors including funds provided by the Committee on Foreign Missions.

· This weekend is the first anniversary of the planting of the church in Port-au-Prince.  We give thanks to God for continuing to grow the church.  Special services will take place each evening this week and I will be preaching there on Sunday morning from Jeremiah 16:14-21 on God's deliverance.

· Continue to pray for our health as there have been many friends and others sick.   We are grateful for our good health as shown by our kids here, shown above at the wedding of our friends Leslie and Diego.
· The political situation in Haiti is always one step away from crisis.  Today I read that the Senate has summoned the prime minister and that this usually means they want to oust them.  Pray for great wisdom by politicians here and that they might put the interests of the Haitian people before their own.
