T-0: The Team’s arrived!

IMG_2838 Today the bulk of the construction team arrived.  This morning Scott and I did some jobs around the house.  It has been great to have someone here who can think through the problems and figure out a solution.  We fixed our screens and made sure they were seated in the windows properly.  We also rewired the battery monitor that kept getting pulled out because the wire splice was on the walking path.

In the afternoon I went to visit our language helper Pierre in Monwi before making my way to Port-au-Prince.  Pierre is doing well.  If you had not heard, his mother, who suffered following a stroke nearly a year ago, died just days after the earthquake.  Pierre is grieving but continues to show his trust in Jesus.

It was fun over a supper of spaghetti and beer to talk about everyone’s background and experience.  All the men have varied construction background but each has seen the business suffer in the recession.  They continue to testify to God’s faithfulness and are here to help in Haiti.  We are excited about all that we will accomplish for the kingdom this week.  But first we get our day of rest and worship.

kids upward soccer And on another note, the kid’s have started soccer this week.  We are trying to take advantage of being in Florida without driving everywhere all the time.  They practice on Thursdays and have a game Saturday morning.  They are enjoying the time with the other kids and just running.  Maybe they will be able to compete a little better with the Haitian kids when they get back!?!
