T+2: First day at the worksite

This morning we left the house at 6:40AM to drive to Port-au-Prince.  We met Pastor Leon and his truck in Cabaret and convoyed on to Port.  The first time around I needed him just to find the place.  His house is in a neighborhood of Port that is a real warren of streets.

While the guys surveyed the site I went with Leon to pickup our building materials.  We cut some steel, loaded up the pickup but had to wait for the tile.  We paid for it but then when we went pick up they didn’t have the quantity we wanted.  Just meant another trip back to pick them up.

The guys felt like they accomplished a lot.  They manufactured some steel doors, started work on a railing, laid a room of tile.  They are tired as would be expected.  The drive itself is one hour each way.  Everyone had a nice shower and supper.  Now time for a good rest.
