It is Sunday. One week is now behind the team. And I think all of us would agree that the rest was very needed. Though we did have opportunity to worship and rest, our backsides didn't get any rest today.
Our journey began at 7AM as we headed into the mountains to Nan Kafe. It means "among the coffee trees" in Creole. We first traveled over a familiar road up the coast and then headed up into the mountains. The roads are some of the roughest the team has traveled so far. But the end of journey saw us in an area with larger trees and somewhat cooler temperatures. It's all relative of course!
We introduced the team, sang lots of song in Creole, prayed together and I preached from Ezra 3-8-13, reminding everyone that life is full of both rejoicing and weeping. The great hope we have though is that one day when we go to be with Christ he will make an end to weeping. We will rejoice with him forever!
Do keep praying for the church in Nan Kafe. There were many saints present which is a great encouragement. Pray for Pastor Eliton who has not been feeling well over the last week. We sang and prayed with him following the service and he is beginning to feel a little better.
The team arrived back home around 1:30PM. Lunch, a rest, some more singing in the backyard and then supper. Heather has done a great job cooking for us. Tonight we enjoyed noodles with Creole sauce. Brownies baked in the solar oven topped it off.
Two more days of VBS left to go. The team travels to Plenn Mapou tomorrow while I try again to get back to the mainland. The boats were not running Saturday because of the wind and waves.
