Today we started our second session of Vacation Bible School at the church in Gran Lagon. Gran Lagon is Haitian Creole for Big Lagoon. It is located about 10 kilometers up the coast from Ansagale. The drive is about 1 hr 20 min from the guest house. We piled into the trucks and arrived in time to begin at 9AM.
We continue to be thankful for God's many answers to prayer. We have enjoyed safety in travel. God has given the sleep that is needed though it is hot. Keep praying for good health and strength as we spend the last four days on the island.
The kids again enjoyed singing, playing games and learning from the Bible. Here at the church in Gran Lagon the kids have already been learning the Children's Catechism and did great in reciting the first four questions.
Each day along with the program we provide a snack of bread with peanut butter and bags of water. It has been hot so the water is especially needed.
The children also enjoyed the craft. They made tambourines out of paper plates and beads. Here they are coloring their plates with things that God has made. "What else did God make?" "God made all things."
After arriving back at the guest house and enjoying a lunch that Heather had prepared for us, we piled back into the truck for the Wesleyan wharf. Joy Irvine was kind enough to have their boat captain take us out to the sand bar off Ansagale. The water was warm and bright blue. Some of us snorkeled and we collected many dead sand dollars. We also saw lots of starfish, a flounder and some urchins. We did incur some minor injuries from the urchins - nothing serious.
Today we also celebrated Heather's birthday. It was a big one, celebrating the turning of a decade. I'll let you figure out which decade that is. We had candles, birthday brownies and little bottles of bubbles.
