It certainly is hazy – and hot and humid. But these last days have been lazy ones. We have note had much chance for lying around on the beach. I do get to be out on the water though as I travel back and forth to Lagonav. The summer time views are the best ones. The mountains are green, the water is calm and after a rain the views are incredibly clear.
A number of these views are from my trip to Lagonav this past weekend. It was a beautiful, calm afternoon coming back on the flyboat. The skies were clear which yielded some great shots of the mainland. This is our home. Haiti can be beautiful.
When I am not in a rush I don’t need a flyboat. Instead I can cross on the Vierge Caridad (pictured) or the Ozone Express. While waiting for my flyboat the Caridad came into the Ansagale wharf loaded down. It is summertime and it seems everyone wants to get to Lagonav. At least they are wearing lifejackets!
We already completed our “summer” vacation in June, but many other missionaries and expats are home for the summer. So we were excited to have our friends Randy & Karen travel back to Haiti. They came bearing their month old daughter Maia Joy (pronounced Maya like the Mayans). Emma got a chance to hold her and spend time. Summertime is fun.
And finally, today we had a chance to belatedly celebrate Heather’s birthday. Through a kind gift from some friends who visited we were able to go out to dinner at a nearby resort Moulin Sur Mer. 
We had been there about a year and a half ago and thought we would give it a try. The restaurant is right on the ocean as you can see from the picture. We always meet interesting people and this was no exception. We met some folks who know other missionaries we are acquainted with in Haiti. And some Jordanian peacekeepers who wanted their pictures taken with the kids. A breeze, the ocean waves, a Coke and some good food. We are thankful!
