The church of Jesus Christ is called to minister to people of all ages. God’s people are not only persons from every tribe and tongue and people and nation but are a collection of folks of all ages. This week on Lagonav we are focusing especially on the children.
There were about 30 kids when we arrived. By mid-morning the numbers had swelled to over 50. In the picture above you can see they were very attentive to the teaching. Teams who come are always impressed by the fact that the children know the catechism answers. They use the Children’s Catechism translated into Haitian Creole during the week and in church.
Erika B. holds a two-month old baby born to a lady from the Gran Lagon church. Even the youngest are included as older brothers or sisters participate in the Bible School program.
Emily C. cozies up in the back of the truck to a little girl from Cherie Sab. This area is about 3 miles from Gran Lagon and she walked to get to our VBS program on Friday. We gave her a drive home since it was on our way.
The Hopp kids have been minister to as well even through play. They came along to the VBS program today and recited the catechism, sang the songs and played games along with the Haitian kids. We are always so thankful for the way team members interact with and love our children.
Everything has gone very smoothly so far. We are thankful for safe travel. We did have some rain last night with more on the way tonight. Mud slowed us down a bit but we made it through. We finish up at Gran Lagon on Indepedence Day and then spend the rest of our time up at Doglas – worship on Sunday and two days of VBS. Thanks for continuing to pray for the team. Pray for restful sleep as everyone is tired but chipper.
