First stop on La Gonave

On Monday of this week (July 9), I traveled with deacons Bob Wright and Brian Miner to check out details for the guest house/missionary residence that is being built on La Gonave. We continue to pray that God would open the way for us to live on the island. It will be closer to the churches and allow us to get to know the community there.
We traveled over by flyboat, always an adventure. They got the propeller caught in someone else's anchor rope, then stalled it a few minutes out. The rest of the 30 minute ride was uneventful. We toured the guest house, met some other missionaries working on the island and checked out what materials are available locally.

The ferry ride back was beautiful. A slight chop, saw the sun coming up over the clouds. You can't beat being near both water, mountains and the beautiful scenery. For the beginning of July it is very green. Keep praying for our dealings with getting the vehicle, that the remainder of our goods would come through customs and that we can get a good start on the residency paperwork.
