On page 103 of the biography of missionary Adoniram Judson, his wife Ann writes as they leave for the mission field: "They fretted to go, but they felt too, the sadness of looking at faces and scenes they would never see again. It was a kind of dying. They looked forward to a glorious immortality but they regretted leaving all they dear famililar things they had always known."We would not want to conpare ourselves to someone like the Judsons who journeyed half way around the world to minister to the people of Burma. They had very little contact with home and never did see it again. But we are thankful for the way the leaving behind reminds us that this earth is not our home. We long to see you again but are grateful that God gives grace to see the need here in Haiti.
We were blessed to be able to worship in Fovo this morning and hear a great sermon in Kreyol. Our comprehension is definitely coming along. Having a working internet connection also allows us to listen to good sermons in our native tongue. This has been helpful for the kids as they don't get a whole lot out of the Kreyol preaching yet. This sermon link is from John Sartelle who I first met at a R.C. Sproul Ligonier conference in Toronto in 1995. I have enjoyed listening and being convicted by his preaching off and on ever since. His gospel message on 1 John shows the wonderful way God brings together both grace and justice in the good news of Jesus Christ.
