One week in!

Wow, we made it through our first week! It seems more like about 3 weeks, but in a good week. We have realized that here in Haiti, at least for the Hopp's, heat + driving + stress = tired. We are all wiped out at the end of our days. Makes one look forward to the Lord's Day a little more.

The adventure definitely continues. It has its ups and downs but we know we are in God's hands. I was reminded if this by the painting on a tap-tap this morning. We were on our way to Port-au-Prince. The day had not gone as we hoped. The internet connection at Kaliko was slow. Didn't get as much time with the kids as I wanted. Then we heard things with the vehicle had not gone according to plan. We had to made out way back to the airport to rent the truck again. And there is was on the tap-tap, a converted pickup truck used as a taxi in Haiti: "Homme propose, Dieu dispose." Like the words of the wise man in Proverbs 16:9 "The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps."

All so true. So many things did not go as I wanted today. Had a hard time finding the customs warehouse to get them a copy of my passport. Couldn't get the agent we will use on the telephone. Then went to renew the rental on the car and the credit card wouldn't go through. We'll take your passport and $2000.00 US. Don't have it. Now I locked the keys in the car. Call the credit card company and it is all sorted out. Back home, tired, supper, dishes, to bed ...
